SPAN acts as vegetable-based liquid, non-ionic, lipophilic w/o emulsifier, for making stable water-in-oil creams and lotions. It is primarily used in O/W emulsions as an auxiliary emulsifier, emollient and stabilizer. Often used with TWEEN (Polysorbates) or other high HLB emulsifiers.
